Want To Know God?

God is waiting with open arms for you. The steps to fall into His embrace are easy.

  1. Admit that you are a sinner.
No matter how good a life we try to live, we still fall miserably short of being
a good person. That is because we are all sinners. We all fall short of God's
desire for us to be holy. The Bible says, "No one is good-not even one" (Romans 3:10 NLT).
This is because we cannot become who are supposed to be without Jesus Christ.
    So what do we do?

  2. Acknowledge that Jesus died on the cross for your sins.
The Bible says, "But God showed His great love for us by sending Christ to die
for us whie we were still sinners" (Romans 5:8 NLT). This is good news. God
loves us so much that He sent His only Son to die in our place when we least
    deserved it.

  3. Repent and turn from your sin.
The word repent means to change our direction in life. Ask God for forgiveness
from the life you have been leading. Turn from the life of sin and run to God.
The Bible tells us to "repent and be converted" (Acts 3:19 NKJV).

  4. Receive Jesus Christ into your life.
Becoming a Christian is more than believing some creed and going to church on Sunday.
It is about having Christ take residence in your life and heart. Jesus said, "Behold
I stand at the door (of your life) and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens
the door, I will come in..." (Rev 3:20 NKJV). He's knocking. Will you open up?

  5. Pray this prayer with your heart not just your mouth. (mean it!)
"Dear Lord Jesus, I know I am a sinner. And I know that you died on the cross for my
sins. Right now Lord, I ask your forgiveness for all that I have done to shame you.
I turn from the life of sin I have been leading and open the door of my heart to you.
I confess with my heart and mouth that you are my personal Lord and Savior.
Thank you for saving me. Amen."

  6. Save yourself some pain.
Knowing God is the most wonderful thing you will experience. But it is not always
painless. You need to stay in the Word and learn all that God has to teach you.
The answer to anything you go through is in the Bible. Find a translation of the Bible
that you are comfortable with. I personally feel at home with the Amplified Bible.
Keep the communication lines open between you and God by having a daily prayer life.
The key to a meaningful relationship is open communication. He wants to hear from you.
Also, be sure to stay in fellowship with other Christians. We need to be discipled by
other Christians in order to grow in Christ. Find a home church and go regularly.
Most of all, talk to others about Christ. This is what is called the Great Commission.
Jesus tells us, "Go and make disciples of all tha nations...teaching them all that I have
commanded you" (Matt 28:19-20). You will see how fulfilling it is to share Christ
    with others.
